REGARDING SEASON 5 DVD ART |
Just letting everyone know that this is
NOT the official season 5 DVD cover-art.
This cover was created by me to add to
the DVD section,
just as a temporary cover until the
season 5 art was released. There are
forum threads and other websites claiming
that this is the official art. Warner
Bros. have not released official art yet,
but we'll post it as soon as it is
available. I'm sure it will be released
soon! Sorry for the confusion |

| KATE VOEGELE 'THE
POST' INTERVIEW |
| (the post)
Ohio native Kate Voegele will perform a
free concert at 8 p.m. Saturday in Baker
Center Theater. Voegele, most known for
her role on the fifth season of One Tree
Hill, is a songwriter and guitarist who
signed with MySpace Records and won a New
York City Songwriters Circle Award in
2006 for her hit single Only
Fooling Myself. The Posts
Star Watson talked with Voegele about
traveling, her role on One Tree Hill and
future career plans. The
Post: Youve been on a lot of tours
lately and are currently touring with
Natasha Bedingfield; how do you prepare?
Kate Voegele: Its
pretty crazy, its pretty nonstop
so Ive been in the mode for
the last six months, so before a tour you
got to gear up to be busy 24/7
But
its really in getting yourself
pumped up with the band and the show to
make sure everything is where it needs to
be. I think its going into it with
a great perspective and remembering why
you do it
when you remember how much
you love what you are doing and why you
are doing it, it makes it so much easier.
Post: What do you look
forward to the most when you go on tour?
Voegele: I think one of the
things is the travel. I just love
spending time in all of the different
cities
Its like being on
vacation all the time you get to
travel, and I love exploring the
different cities where Im at, like
finding cool shops and restaurants and
other things. I like to pick up something,
even if its something
little
Thats probably the
thing I look forward to the most.
Post: What is your most
memorable moment on tour?
Voegele: Its hard to
say because every night there is always
something really, really amazing going on.
There are always people who approach you
after the show and tell you how much you
really affected them, and that is always
really cool for me. After the show,
people are so adamant to meet and talk to
me about how a song really affected them
in a profound way, and thats so
cool for me.
Post: What was it like
being on One Tree Hill?
Voegele: It was
awesome
I never knew what to expect,
I never really done any official acting.
Everyone was so welcoming and down to
earth
Im just the new kid who
was there for seven episodes, but they
were so nice and I made so many new
friends. It was definitely one of the
best experiences Ive had in my
career.
Post: Who havent you
worked with yet and who would you like to
work with in the future?
Voegele: I dont know
there are lots of people I would love to
work with: Patty Griffin, Ryan Adams and
all country type of artists.
Post: How did you hook up
with Tom and the gang up at MySpace to be
on their record label?
Voegele: Tom sent me a
message personally on MySpace and asked
me to come showcase for him. That was
pretty crazy because I didnt think
it was real.
Tom is a great guy and
he got a great, creative vision for his
label, and I think its awesome that
hes so innovative with everything
hes doing. Its been an
awesome partnership, I just love working
with those guys.

INTERVIEW WITH JAMES LAFFERTY |
| Smart, laid back, easy on
the eyes...these are just a few things to
describe the One Tree Hill star,
James Lafferty. James recently had a
little time to chat with us for a while
about the show and other things he had on
his mind. He told us about a recent
charity basketball game held to raise
money for the Wilmington Family YMCA and
the St. Jude Childrens Hospital,
which raised over $66,000. That's no
small feat! He was very pleased with the
fan turnout, and always happy to donate
money to those in need. How does he
choose who to donate money too? We
try to spread the wealth a little bit.
Each year we always do the Wilmington
Family YMCA because they always help us
out with their facilities and we think
its good to support the local YMCA.
Then, each year we pick a charity that is
doing good things, or a cause we think is
good, and we help them out. This year it
was St. Jude.

| SEASON FIVE ON DVD
DETAILS |
| (tvshowsondvd.com) Two weeks ago we
reported that Amazon.com had begun taking
pre-orders for One Tree Hill - The
Complete 5th Season on DVD (see the
link below), even though the studio had
not announced the title just yet. As a
result, Amazon didn't have a street date
at the time, but this morning Warner Home
Video made it official by formally
announcing this 5-disc package, and
giving a street date of August 26th.
Here's their description, followed by
more details:
Hello
again! Four-and-a-half years after the
searing and surprising events that marked
their final days at Tree Hill High, old
friends return to their North Carolina
hometown. Some of them reached the goals
they set as teens: Lucas published his
novel, Brooke rocked the fashion world as
an acclaimed couturière and Haley became
the teacher she always yearned to be.
Some didn't: Peyton crashed and burned in
L.A., and Nathan saw his promise of pro
hoops glory evaporate in a single,
violent moment. But once they're back
home in this involving 5-Disc, 18-Episode
Season Five Set, everyone discovers so
much is the same: love, friendship,
challenges, triumphs, laughs, tears...and
dreams. As Lucas says, it's just the
beginning.
Just as
Amazon had said in their listing, the
list price is $59.98 SRP, but you can pre-order
it
as of this writing for just $38.99.
Running time is 810 minutes, with video
in anamorphic widescreen and audio in
English - Dolby Surround 5.1. Subtitles
are going to be in English, French and
Spanish. Here is a list of the various
bonus material included:
- Unaired
Scenes
- "One
Tree Hill Fast Forward":
Show Creators and Cast Share
Their Excitement in Moving the
Storyline Four Years Later in the
Characters' Lives
- "One
Tree Hill at 100":
Commemorating the 100th Episode
Milestone
- "One
Tree Hill Musical Stars":
Guest Stars Kevin Federline and
Kate Voegele at Work Behind the
Scenes on Set and Making Music
- Commentary
on 2 Episodes by Series Creator
Mark Schwahn, and Key Cast and
Crew
- Gag
Reel
- Plus
a bonus offer for a Digital Copy
of the entire season!
If the
bottom-most item sounds familiar to some
of you, then you are possibly also fans
of Supernatural as well. Warner
recently announced that their Sept. 2nd
release of Supernatural - The Complete
3rd Season would be the first TV-DVD
season set to include a bonus Digital
Copy of the entire season's worth of
episodes. The second one will be One
Tree Hill - The Complete 5th Season
on DVD. We've learned that these digital
copies on both Supernatural and One
Tree Hill will not be "on-disc"
copies, however...there's not enough room
on the discs to store them! So they will
be provided via download, similar to a
method Warner used to call "e-copy"
in the past, and available in either
Windows Media (PC) or in iTunes (Mac)
versions. It's an easy way to get "digital
file" copies of the feature that's
on the DVD, downloaded to your computer
or your compatible media player (such as
a video iPod, or an Archos) at no additional
charge. Hooray!
We're still waiting on package art for
this set, but stay tuned and we'll bring
it to you just as soon as we get it!

| KATE VOEGELE'S
MUSIC CAREER BLOSSOMS |
| Twenty-one-year-old singer-songwriter
Kate Voegele has been on an amazing
journey since she started writing and
playing music at age 15. She's
a veteran of Farm Aid. She auditioned for
the WB's "One Tree Hill" (to
"humor my manager," she says)
and was hired for the role of Mia even
though she had no professional acting
experience. And she's touring with pop
heavyweight Natasha Bedingfield beginning
in June.
But Voegele sees her greatest accomplish
in being the first artist signed to
fledgling MySpace Records in 2006.
MySpace made her debut, ''Don't Look Away,''
its first release and she hit the road to
promote it. MySpace then re-released ''Don't
Look Away'' with a new cover on Jan. 22.
They also repackaged it with three
acoustic tracks for a Target exclusive.
"MySpace was on board two years
before 'One Tree Hill' ever came about,"
Voegele said. "They believed in me
from the beginning. Without them and my
management--everybody on my whole team--I
think it would be impossible to be where
I am now. That's probably been one of the
greatest milestones in my career."
That career has also been a hectic one.
Last fall, she juggled her tour with Matt
Nathanson and her starring role on "One
Tree Hill." She toured with
Nathanson on the weekends, and acted
during the week.
"I would fly out to play gigs with
Matt," she said. "I wracked up
so many frequent flier miles because I
was just in a different city every
weekend. It was, like, fly to Lawrence,
KS, and then we drive up to Missouri then
I'd fly to Wilmington [NC] to shoot 'One
Tree Hill,' then I would fly to Chicago.
It was insane. I figure if I can lead the
double life thing and do it sanely and
give 100 percent in both areas, why not?"
Although the acting gig is fun--she gets
to perform her original music on the show--music
is her first love. A prolific writer,
Voegele said she has enough material for
10 more albums.
"I have so much stuff," she
said. "As an artist, I'm always
writing because I'm always inspired by
everything that's going on around me. I'm
having all these amazing experiences, now
that I'm on tour and meeting people and
hanging out with everybody and seeing new
places; it's incredibly inspirational. I'm
always writing. I can't wait to get in
the studio again, although I'm definitely
still really excited about doing this
record and riding it out."
After she wraps up the dates with
Bedingfield, Voegele hopes to headline
her own tour and continue her work on
"One Tree Hill." (The dates
with Bedingfield are listed below.)
"There's something awesome about
opening and gaining new fans and getting
in front of people and being on a great
bill with someone like Natasha," she
said. "But, then, it's also amazing
to headline your own shows and see your
fan base come out just to see you. That's
a great thing, too."

| GABE DIXON FEATURED
IN TONIGHTS 'OTH' FINALE |

| SEASON FINALE
TONIGHT / NEW AFFILIATE |

| 'DESPERATE
HOUSEWVIES' RIPPING OFF 'ONE TREE HILL'? |
Last night's season 4
finale of Desperate Housewives
ended with the show jumping forward five
years into the future. It's a tricky move
for a TV show to make, but by now, enough
shows have done it that there is a
precedent. Though it's impossible to tell
whether the move will be good or bad
based on the few seconds we saw last
night, Desperate Housewives
would be wise to look at how other shows
have made this jump for research.
While the one year leap at the end of Battlestar
Galactica's second season or the two
missing years from the end of the second
season of Alias are comparable,
the fact is that Desperate Housewives
is essentially copying exactly what One
Tree Hill just did this season.
At the start of One Tree Hill's fifth
season, the show jumped 4 years, 6 months
and 2 days into the future. Not only is
this close to the five years of Desperate
Housewives, but many of the apparent
storylines will be similar.
On Desperate Housewives, we saw
that in five years, Bree (Marcia Cross)
is a successful businesswoman with a
burgeoning empire. This past season on One
Tree Hill, Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush)
jumped forward to become the president of
her own successful fashion line and
magazine.
Susan and Mike fans may have been
disappointed to see that in five years on
Wisteria Lane, Susan is married to some
new guy. On One Tree Hill,
Leyton fans (Lucas and Peyton, for those
of you who aren't OTH 'shippers)
were disappointed to see Lucas (Chad
Michael Murray) dating and engaged to
Lindsey, a new girl.
The jump also helped age Nathan and Haley's
son Jamie on One Tree Hill so
that they could skip over that boring
baby stuff, and apparently Desperate
Housewives has done the same for
Gabi (Eva Longoria), giving her two tots
of her own in the future.
I hope I've made my point, and if One
Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn is
reading this, I give you permission to
use this article as Exhibit A in any
copyright infringement lawsuits you plan
to bring against Marc Cherry.
Unfortunately, the similarities stop
there, and the apparent rationale behind
each move is completely different,
possibly pointing to Desperate
Housewives' inevitable failure.
First of all, the One Tree Hill
jump was made primarily to make the
actors age appropriate for their roles.
Heck, even after the nearly five year
time jump, most of the leads are still
older than the characters they play. On Desperate
Housewives, this was not a problem,
and if that finale was any indication,
season 5 will rely heavily on really bad
aging make-up.
Second, and most importantly, One
Tree Hill wanted to skip college and
move forward in the characters lives, to
see them start adulthood. The show could
not have survived four seasons of college
with resorting to more random romantic
pairings and extraneous new recurring
guest stars. For Desperate Housewives,
the jump seems like a last ditch effort
to inject some life into a dying show
that hit the TV landscape with plenty of
buzz and has quickly fizzled into a
disorganized series that fades more and
more with every passing week.
The fact is that One Tree Hill's
decision to jump nearly five years into
the future made complete dramatic sense
from a storytelling perspective. The same
can not be said for Desperate
Housewives, where it seems the
writers were simply too burnt out to come
up with any better way to shake things up.SOURCE

And lo, a great cry went up
across the land as this episode of One
Tree Hill came to an end and the
word was revealed. Blasphemy! Cried the
followers of the Church of Leyton. Divine
revelation! Countered the parishioners of
the Brucas sect. And Mark Schwahn did
look down upon the masses as he chortled
with glee.
You know what heals a broken heart more
than anything? Spoilers. OK,
I don't know how to start with anything
but the big news: Lucas declared his hate
for Peyton. You read that right, sports
fans: Hate. See, Lucas finally heard from
Lindsey, and his cockeyed optimism was
crushed when Lindsey told him she was
seeing someone else. Buh... wha... she's
supposed to come back to me! I told her
so! Apparently not.
So Lucas makes an ass out
of himself at a basketball game, nearly
assaulting a player from the other team
and getting kicked out. (Who does he
think he is, Bobby Knight?) He repairs to
the Only Bar in Tree Hill to get
plastered, and Peyton finds him. She
drags him home, puts him to bed,
sympathizes with his plight, and then
gets this earful: "Peyton ... I hate
you. I wish you never came back. You
ruined my life."
I get the distinct
impression that Mark Schwahn is chortling
to himself and rubbing his hands together
in Mr. Burnsian glee.
See, this flies in the face
of what absolutely everyone has been
telling Peyton and Lucas -- dude, you
SOOOOOO love Peyton! It's obvious! You
wrote about her in your book! Your mouth
says no, but your prose says yes! Lucas
finally got as sick of people telling him
what he thought as I am, and snapped. I
don't know if he truly hates Peyton, but
he's making it pretty damn clear that
they're not getting back together any
time soon. So much for "meant to be,"
huh?
Of course, other stuff
happened. Brooke took Angie in for her
surgery, and therefore spent most of the
episode crying photogenicly at the
hospital. She's so worried about her
borrowed child that she doesn't pick up
on Lucas' pain, and she doesn't realize
that her hot pediatric cardiologist is
most likely hitting on her. Most likely
that will break through in the next
episode. I can't really blame her for
being oblivious, as knowing a kid in your
care just got her chest cracked open
would tend to overshadow everything else.
Haley learns that she
should listen to me when I yell at the TV,
as Jamie finds the card he made for Dan
daintily placed at the top of the trash
can. Jamie does not approve, and he
stalks off to deliver the card to Dan
himself. Cue Haley feeling like the worst
mom in the world again, as she tries to
explain to Jamie that Dan's a bad guy and
she's trying to protect him. None of this
would have happened if she just made sure
to bury the card under the coffee grounds
like I advised. Silly fictional
characters, not listening to my advice!
Mia returns to Tree Hill
unannounced to fit in a couple of product
placements, film a Rock the Vote
commercial and bolster Haley's flagging
self esteem. Look, Haley, I admire you
immensely -- you've got a great family,
you're making a great album, and if I'm
where you are in four years, I'll be
thrilled. Aw, Mia's sweet.
Mia also pumps Peyton for
information: "Am I allowed to ask
what's going on between you and Lucas, of
is that kind of like saying Voldemort?"
Hee! She counsels Peyton to get Lucas
drunk and then divine his true feelings.
Peyton laughs it off, but you can tell
she's thinking about it when she helps
the completely wasted Lucas stagger home.
That's why the "I hate you!" is
even more of a gut-punch than it would be
otherwise.
In other news, Mouth gets
his shot at broadcasting fame when he
covers the ravens game, but that also
means he caught Lucas behaving badly on
tape. He decides his friendship is more
important than his career, and he
destroys the tape. Back to the cutting
room for you, young man!
Nathan is working on
getting back in shape, and he's using
Jamie as a conditioning tool. It's
completely adorable to watch him running
while towing Jamie on his scooter. When
Nathan flags at a hill, Jamie offers him
his cape. Seriously: Most adorable TV kid
ever.
If only he didn't give Dan
something to live for... Dan discovers he's
second in line on the heart transplant
list. His idiot doctor tells him who's
ahead of him. That's... not good. When we
see Dan at the end of the episode, he's
looming over his heart-transplant rival,
contemplating eeeeeevil. Yay!
Also, Deb is internet
dating/flashing an anonymous man via
webcams, and discovers that her swain is
Skills. She's appalled, but as he's
already seen her bodacious tatas, he's
all for continuing the dalliance. Let the
bodice-ripping commence! That's got to be
a sign of the apocalypse right there.
Plus, we had water balloons,
Jamie's basketball strategy succeeding,
Quentin falling afoul of a coach who took
the wrong message from Karate Kid ("Sweep
the leg" wasn't supposed to be a good
thing), Mia singing a song that needs to
be retired from television from overuse,
Lucas telling Brooke that "love
doesn't need words," Dan confessing
that Jamie is his best friend, Dr.
Copeland extolling the virtues of Brooke,
and Skills extolling the virtues of bacon.
But let's face it -- you know you really
just want to talk about the Leyton
debacle. Have at it!

GRABS WERME FOR ANCHOR JOB |
Worcester native and St.
Johns High graduate Tom Werme will
appear in a featured role in the upcoming
season finale of the CW networks
One Tree Hill. Werme plays
new sports anchor Steve Gold in the
episode, which is scheduled to air Monday.
This is Wermes second acting gig in
the last year, as he was a featured extra
in the George Clooney football flick,
Leatherheads. For the
One Tree Hill job, Werme
auditioned for and shot the episode
within a one-week period earlier this
month in Wilmington, N.C.
They were looking for a real sports
announcer for the role, even though the
character had dialogue away from the news
desk and scenes with the other actors,
Werme said. I went in, did well in
the audition, got the job and shot the
show. It was great. READ FULL STORY

If the promos for next week's
season finale of One Tree Hill
are to be believed, Lucas will invite
either Peyton, Brooke, or Lindsey on a
wild trip to Las Vegas with him.
This bold move will hopefully mark the
end of Lucas' merry-go-round of romantic
indecision, which is the only issue he's
dealt with in the past 17 episodes.
In my opinion, Lucas has become an
extremely boring and unlikable character
this year. He's done absolutely
nothing but remind everyone that he's in
love with Lindsey, which he insisted upon
even after she broke up with him for not
being over Peyton. For someone who
spends much of his time writing from the
heart, Lucas seems to have no idea what
he wants.
While I enjoy a love triangle as much as
the next guy, I'm praying that Lucas
makes up his mind in the season finale.
The big question is: Who should he
ultimately choose? READ FULL STORY |

| TEAMWORK SHINES ON
'ONE TREE HILL' |
| What does the saying "There
is no 'I' in 'Team'" mean to each
and every person? When you become part of
a team, are you a member of that team
forever? Does one lose their
individuality and become part of the
group? Monday night's episode of One
Tree Hill featured several
characters rising up to the challenge of
ultimate teamwork. Despite the odds, the
hardships and the pain, they set aside
their own personal needs and worked
together. At what point can a team change
back into "I"? Brooke
Davis has proven herself as not only a
wonderful person and friend but a mother
as well. After finally reaching happiness
within herself and being there for close
friends, she has found her niche as a
caring, loving mother. Her emotional
connection to her adopted baby is
extremely endearing and heartfelt. Her
determination to give her the best life
possible is touching, especially with the
help of long-time friend Lucas Scott.
Of course, when it comes
down to it, how many of us were excited
to witness some totally inspiring Brucas
moments? As a fan myself, I must admit I
do hope this doesn't transform into a
Lucas/Brooke love affair. There is only
so much fans can endure of the Peyton/Lucas/Brooke
love triangle that refuses to die. If
anything, by continuing to throw Lucas'
true feelings around, his character's
authenticity continues to become
increasingly hazy.
Millicent continues to nurture a budding
relationship with her boyfriend Mouth.
With unique career goals and different
pasts, Mouth and Millicent have learned
to overcome each other's fears and
struggles and merely lean on each other
for support. Millicent learned how to co-exist
within an apartment of three adventurous
guys simply by attending to their
interests. (Who doesn't like a water gun
fight every now and then?) Despite being
incredibly busy at work, she still found
time to build up Mouth's confidence
during Mouth's milestone sports
broadcasting debut.
With a game-changing injury,
Q chose to remove himself from the Ravens
basketball team. Without the use of his
hand, his talent and his passion, he was
confident that his membership on the team
no longer counted for anything. The
guidance and encouragement by his coaches
and a special little five-year-old
finally opened his eyes to the true
meaning of teamwork. Despite still
wearing a cast, Q rejoined the team,
determined to help out his teammates take
it to the top. Q eventually seemed to
realize that when one way doesn't work
out, try another. Given all the odds, one
simply can't give up so easily.
Somewhere along the way,
teams broke and the loyalties that once
were present became extinct. Dan Scott
murdered his own brother in cold blood
and in return destroyed a future with his
two sons. His former wife, Deb, and ex-wife,
Karen, have each made brief appearances
on the show so far. Karen, who's been
away in Paris with her boyfriend and Lily,
has yet to hold a significant role this
season. Though Deb made her appearance at
Jamie's birthday party, she made it clear
to Dan that his presence was unwanted.
Despite Dan pouring his
heart out to his son, Nathan stood loyal
to his family. With Dan's days limited,
Nathan cut the last tie holding Dan to
the Scott family. Nathan's last words to
his father may very well be "Leave
my family alone."
Next week's episode clips
reveal nothing useful for us avid fans.
Could Lucas and Peyton making out on his
bed just be an elaborately created mind-game?
Or maybe it's one of Peyton's dreams. But
since many of us are surely crossing our
fingers, we have to wonder: Has Lucas
finally unlocked his heart?

| BROOKE'S BABY: THE
ULTIMATE FASHION ACCESSORY |
I know that outlandish and
sudsy storylines are definitely part of
the appeal of watching primetime soaps
such as One Tree Hill, but
sometimes, you have just have to say
enough is enough. Is it just me, or is
anybody else having difficulty suspending
disbelief that a social welfare agency
would willingly hand over Angie a
real baby with actual health problems
over to Brooke, a young woman,
barely out of her teenage years, without
so much as a background check?
Notwithstanding my own personal distaste
for procreation, I understand that some
people actually like children and want to
have families. Their reasons are often
valid, but I have a hard time getting
behind Brooke's decision. As far as I can
see, the only reason why she wants a
child is to fill the gaping maw of
emptiness in her life, something to
validate her, to distract her. And also,
maybe because adopted foreign babies are
the latest in hot accessories, as
evidenced by the likes of Madonna and
Angelina Jolie who seem to be adopting
foreign babies every other week. You
might think I'm being way harsh on Brooke
but just think of the last few moments of
Monday's One Tree Hill when
Brooke presented her new brand of toddler
clothing. Angie's purpose was solely to
further Brooke's career.
Brooke (Sophia Bush) may have a genuine
desire to care for a child, but the fact
that she takes it as a personal affront
that baby Angie will not smile is proof
that she is not ready for the
responsibility. I don't know, Brooke,
maybe it's because Angie has a hole in
her heart that she's not full of smiles
and giggles. Brooke is still a very young
woman and having a baby is not a matter
to take lightly. It's not like fostering
a kitten or a puppy, and even that
requires a lot of work. Hopefully, Angie
will only be under Brooke's care until
her much needed surgery, and then she'll
return home to her parents. By then, I
have no doubt that Brooke will have
already returned to her usual pattern of
flightiness and drama.
The only good that I can see coming out
of the baby situation is that bonding
over Angie may be bringing Brooke and
Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) closer
together. I don't care whether they
reunite as a couple, as long as Lucas
stops pining after Lindsey. There is
altogether too much pining occurring on One
